The Hemlock Trail Area is a small, but scenic area with two different, fairly flat trail options that that take you through diverse habitats such as hardwood forests, wetlands, and old-growth groves. 87 acres of the total 308 are designated as federally regulated wetlands, that feature small groves of old-growth trees. The trails feature four bridges and takes you though hardwood forests, successional fields, hemlock forests, and wetlands. The land was originally purchased by the state to build a golf course but that project was abandoned, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts. Keep an eye out for large, old-growth trees and an open forest floor, characteristic of these preserved groves. This is a great place to take a peaceful hike near the heart of Saratoga Springs.
