Against the background of the Bismarck cult, around 500 Bismarck monuments in the form of towers, statues, busts and columns were erected in the German Reich to commemorate the former Chancellor Otto von Bismarck (1815-1898), as is the case here in Zweibrücken.
This statue was inaugurated here on Herzogplatz in 1896.
He was a hero back then, but today, like so many others, he is unfortunately viewed more critically. However, his merits for Germany remain undisputed.
This bronze statue by Wilhelm Albermann from Cologne commemorates him so that his important work and influence is not forgotten.
