Frans Naerebout, pilot and life saver. In 1779, he rescued 86 shipwrecked sailors from the stranded East India Company ship “Woestduyn” during heavy weather. The statue was made by F. ten Klooster and unveiled on July 5, 1952. Relocation in 2007 on Boulevard de Ruyter on the Western Scheldt
