Built around 1545, the Moulin de la Pâquelais is a remarkable building located to the east of Savenay. After a restoration in 1991, the mill became functional again. It has been listed as a historic monument since 1996.

These old windmills are the best proof that humans were clever enough to harness the power of the wind for a number of centuries - long before the discovery of electricity and the inventions that followed. So what is celebrated today as modern (so-called green or renewable) energy is basically old hat in a new guise.
