This bronze ship gun was cast in 1614 by Johannes Burgerhuys in Middelburg. It probably comes from a ship of the Zeeland Admiralty. The gun was fished up in 1971 by the fishing vessel Breskens 5 in the North Sea west of Dunkirk. Through the mediation of the Huis en Heem association, which had a gun carriage made, it could be placed in 1983 on the dike along the Thoolse harbour, near the Brugstraat.

Nice idea: from the small marina (at hotel/restaurant JuNa Tholen at Kaaij 2) in Tholen, you can participate in a guided city walk every Saturday at 2 p.m. in June, July, August and September. Costs 5.00 euros per person. If you can't find parking, try it a little further on where the Kaaij makes a right turn and changes into the Bosstraat.
