Warning: the OSM map used by Komoot here is not correct.
Here it is the end of the beach track in 2023. It will already be different during your visit: since the 2000s the mouth, the opening of the Bandama river and the lagoon to the sea, has moved towards the west about 40 meters per year. 6 kilometers from the old French maps of 1924. The movement has accelerated since 2010 to 170 meters per year!
The Catholic church will disappear around 2030, and the rest of the current village of Lahou-Kpanda around 2050. For the moment, the fishermen simply move their house every year.
Nothing was done to save the colonial town: it disappeared in 2000, and the new town of Grand Lahou has been recreated since 1973 at its current location 10 km inland, the old village of Nzida.
Consideration was given to opening a canal where it was 100 years ago, ostensibly to reduce the loss of land from the historic site of Grand Lahou. But nothing was done until now. They have lost a historical and tourist treasure 😡
