The Hohenkapf is about 1121.1 m above sea level. NHN the highest mountain in the Buchenberger forest in the Swabian district Oberallgäu in Bavaria (Germany).
The Hohenkapf is located in the southern part of the Buchenberger forest, the southeastern part of the mountain landscape Adelegg, about 2.3 km (as the crow flies) southwest of Eschach, a municipality part of Buchenberg. The border to the municipality Weitnau runs over the west flank of the mountain.
West of the Hohenkapfs rises the Steinebach and on its southern flank the Letzbach, the northern tributaries of the Wengener Argen (tributary of the Lower Argen) are. Its north flank flows two streams, which belong to the tributaries of the upper reaches Nibel called Eschach. The only larger pond on the Hohenkapf is the Eschacher Weiher on its eastern flank.
The Hohenkapf is accessed by several hiking trails. While you can see impressive views from various places along these trails, for example to the mountain Blender, in the direction of Illertal, to the Ammergauer and Allgäu Alps and to the mountain ridges Sonneneck and Hauchenberg, there is no prospect on its heavily wooded summit.
