The border educational trail shows a different picture of the inner-German border than is known from the Berlin Wall. The different stations contain illustrated boards, many descriptions and local history.
Actually designed as a walk, but I bikepacked this trail along this path, which worked just as well. But there are also unpaved paths.

About 800 meters long border trail along the former inner-German border with various information and display boards. The path is freely accessible and can be visited free of charge all year round. The starting point is at the end of Obersuhl, parking is available directly opposite. The border between the villages of Obersuhl, Gerstungen and Berka can be seen in stylized form on the stone pillar. The last stop on the path is the border museum on the guard.

In 2009, the border nature trail was officially opened as part of a week of celebration and commemoration to mark 20 years of the opening of the inner-German border by the former border communities of Berka/Werra–Gerstungen and Wildeck.
A total of 8 display cases with additional boards were set up along the former zone border at the end of Wildeck-Obersuhl in the direction of Gerstungen-Untersuhl. Numerous relics of the border fence illustrate the condition of the border fortifications at the time of the division within Germany.
