Cross Chapel in Bad Saulgau
The Cross Chapel was built in 1450 as a foundation, after 1634 it was also called the "Swedish Chapel" because of the legend about the salvation of the city from the siege by Swedish soldiers in the Thirty Years' War in 1634: Soldiers are said to have brought a cross (not necessarily the one that exists today) from the chapel to burn it. But suddenly it was bright and bright on the chapel wall, so that the Swedes ran away in horror. A thanksgiving procession of the citizens to the chapel then took place. The legend certainly has a core of truth – like many legends, the people of that time saw the salvation of the Swedish soldiery as God's help that they could experience.
