The small fountain is a replica of the former chicken hole lock. Their old stone posts are still preserved next door at the entrance to the small piece of meadow. When the Pfinz still made its way through the village until the 1930s, it was divided here by the small weir. To the north it flowed into the "Ur-Pfinz", into the so-called Gießbach through the meadows and fields in the Gewann Beun. Since the 15th century, the main stream has been routed to Durlach to operate the mills and fill the moat.
