Via Verde Rechlin - Mirow, a cycle path that the region can already be proud of. Great! Elsewhere, you cycle alongside disused railway lines over bumpy forest paths to the destination of the tour. I wish there were more cycle paths like this elsewhere! We have enough unused, disused connections, bridges, and tunnels in Germany. Great route!
The current cycle route between Rechlin and Malchow largely runs along the old railway line, which was built in 1918 to provide a military connection to the Rechlin-Lärz airfield. From the 1920s onwards, passenger traffic also ran, and in 1933, the route was extended to Rechlin Nord. It remained in operation after the Second World War, but passenger traffic ended in 1967 and freight traffic finally ended in 2001. In 2007, the tracks were dismantled, and from around 2010, a paved cycle path was built on large sections of the railway embankment, which is now part of the Müritz circular trail.
