The Cuxhaven water tower in Cuxhaven, Bahnhofstraße 11, today e.g. with apartments, is under monument protection in Lower Saxony and is included in the list of monuments in Cuxhaven.

A cholera epidemic in Hamburg in 1892 with 8,605 deaths prompted the city of Hamburg in 1896 to set up a central water supply with a water tower in the Ritzebüttel district, in Cuxhaven and in Döse in order to prevent infectious diseases and to supply the ships in the port.

The 48 meter high water tower from 1897 with a storage and a waterworks was built and operated by the Berlin businessman and engineer Hoffmann. The seven-storey tower, at that time in the outer dike area, has 80 centimeter thick walls that had to support a weight of 900 tons.
From around 1970, the gradient pressure was not sufficient for the taller houses, so that they had to be equipped with pressure boosting systems. In 2004 the water tower was taken out of service. Four apartments were built into the tower. A café and a seminar room are to be set up in the tower, which was sold in 2013 or 2017.[1] The tower is a symbol of the city.
