The very clean water of the Grote Plas is up to 30 meters deep in some places and there are a few diving clubs active. In addition, there are extensive recreational facilities and on beautiful summer days the recreation center attracts many thousands of visitors. There is a paid beach with two entrances. There is a separate nudist beach at the Westbroekse Binnenweg entrance on the north side of the lake. is. In peak years, the paid section has around 128,000 visitors. The largest part of the lake is freely accessible and has a variety of sunbathing areas on the water, including two nude beaches (also on the north side of the lake). An asphalted pedestrian/cycling path runs around the lake and is used by joggers, skaters, cyclists and walkers. Running competitions are also regularly held. The length of this path around the lake is almost 5 km. Birds such as the reed warbler, grebe, coot and mallard can be found at the water's edge and chiffchaff, great tit, nuthatch, treecreeper, black-headed tit, wren, mockingbird and glossy head in the trees and shrubs.
