The Hohwald watchtower is an interesting stop on your hike. 🏰 Here you can explore the remains of a Roman watchtower and learn more about the history of this region. The view of the surrounding nature from here is also impressive - perfect for a short rest.

At the highest point in the area (552 m above sea level) and thus at the highest point of the Odenwald Limes, there was also a Roman sentry post. It is called "Hohwald sentry post" and is located directly on the Limes path.
This post consisted of two towers, of which only the curved wall can be seen from the wooden tower. The stone tower, whose foundation walls are preserved and can be seen, probably replaced the wooden predecessor.
