        The Meinweg was originally a common forest (hence the name) of the communities surrounding this forest area. A separate "bush ordinance" existed that defined the boundaries of the areas and the permitted uses of this common forest.
        This can be found in Gerardus Venner's book "Der Meinweg" (The Meinweg): Research on Rights to Common Land in the Former Gelderland-Jülich Border Region (1400-1822) from 1985, which is now only available secondhand.
