The Taunusanlage stretches from the Taunustor to the Alte Oper with hilly meadows and a multitude of monuments and works of art. Right behind the Schiller monument by Johannes Dielmann, a green oasis opens up at the Taunustor with lawns and large deciduous trees, garden accents, steps and benches and the remains of old rampart walls. Georg Kolbe's monument in honor of Beethoven rises up on a hill, the former bastion tip. Not far from there is Kolbe's Heine monument. It was erected here in 1913, but in 1933 supporters of the Nazi regime toppled it and destroyed the stone relief of the poet. After that, it stood in the garden of the Städel under the title "Spring Song" until it returned to the Taunusanlage in 1947. The busy Junghofstrasse divides the complex, which then extends further to the Opernplatz. From this side, a semicircle of marble columns and benches leads into the park directly to the Marshall Fountain with three bronze graces that are meant to express the grace in giving, taking and thanking.
