The village of Žlutava is located in the district of Zlín in the Zlín Region. 1196 inhabitants live here. The original name of the settlement was Žltov or Žlutov. It could have been derived from the personal name Žlt and then denoted the ownership of a person with that name, or from the generic yellow, in which case the motivation for the naming is unclear. From the 16th century, there is evidence of the name Žlutov for a nearby hill, and it is not possible to decide whether the name of the village was transferred to the hill or vice versa.
