Billington Sea is a large freshwater pond with a small island in the middle of it (Seymour Island) accessable through Morton Park. This scenic spot is a fantastic place to go swimming in the summer, but is enjoyable all year round for fishing, walks, and picnics. The name Billington Sea comes from Francis Billington, one of the passengers on the Mayflower, was the first Pilgrim to spot this body of water. Local legend has it that Billington spotted the pond at a distance thought it was the Pacific Ocean it was so big!
