Bolaños de Calatrava is located in the volcanic area of Campo de Calatrava. Reference city in the region is one of the most populated and with a strong economy based on industry and services.

Its monumental castle of Arab origin known as Castillo de Doña Berenguela stands out. The fortress is located in the center of the town, it can be visited and hosts a great cultural and tourist programme. The Hermitage of Cristo de la Columna from the 14th century with a Baroque altarpiece and Gothic paintings on the walls; the Parish Church of San Felipe and Santiago, built in the 16th century; the Mudejar houses of Calle Cristo; the noble house of Coca; the Casino de la Verja and the hermitages of the Virgen del Monte make up the most important visiting areas that arouse great interest.
