The ecological improvements implemented for the Weipersgrund and the Steinerbachtal are therefore predominantly (re)wetting measures that compensate for these deficits in waterlogged areas and damp depressions, temporary and permanent still waters, as a result of hydraulic engineering interventions in the past, within the Water system should at least partially compensate.

In an exemplary cooperation from December 2005 between the nature and environment working group, E.ON Ruhrgas, the city of Braunfels, the Naturlandstiftung Lahn-Dill-Kreis e.V. and HGON (Hessian Society for Ornithology and Nature Conservation e.V.) - over the necessary compensatory measures - additional small habitats, such as ponds and damp sinks, created.
