The Speckberg is a Jura plateau that pushes itself like a spur into the Schuttertal. Favored by nature, the Speckberg was made for hunting and the establishment of a base camp for ice age hunters. Favorable sunlight, dry subsoil, good prospects for hunting large herds of game, the proximity of the water, the rubble, and the nearby raw material deposits, chert has attracted people for at least 100,000 years.

Nice hill with a short, steep climb on both sides. Caution ⚠️ when descending in a westerly direction: since the path has been paved here, there has often been gravel on the asphalt - once you get on the gravel, there is no stopping you even with a mountain bike due to the curves on the descent😧 🤕. Only chance: drive inside bends next to the asphalt!
