Murree is a bit more than an hour by car from Islamabad. It is in the middle of a mountain area at an altitude of 2,300m. With 150,000 urban population it is medium-sized and offers a much more relaxed atmosphere than the big cities like Islamabad, Lahore or even Karachi. All this plus the pleasant climate (min 10 degrees less than in the lowlands) and the beauty of the nature make it an attractive place for tourism, but also to live in.
I came here upon an invitation from its relatively new Kohsar University (founded in 2020). Today they have around 1,600 students and quite a large number of faculties.
Remarkable if not admirable: they offer studies at very low fees (20-30€ per semester) to those who normally cannot afford studies at a university.
