The stone pig was unveiled on October 22, 2011, and commemorates the following legend:
In 1440, a woman at the Löpsinger Gate is said to have observed a runaway sow rubbing itself against the gate. She noticed that the gate wasn't properly closed. Her outraged cry of "So, sir, so!" was directed at the guards, who later confessed to having been bribed by Count Oettingen to leave the gate open so that he and his troops could conquer the city. Thanks to the sow, the treason was discovered, and Nördlingen was saved from capture.
