The official building of the Wanne office was built in 1903/04 to take over the administration of the community, which was growing rapidly due to several incorporations and moves. When Wanne and Eickel merged in 1926, it became clear that the meeting room of the town hall was too small - the official building remained, the council meetings were outsourced. After the merger of Wanne-Eickel and Herne, the town hall remained the seat of several city departments.
