This Fortress and the nearest buildings functioned as a hospice and a hospital for the many pilgrims who came to the Holy Land during the crusaders period in the 12th and 13th centuries.
This authentic world class site is one of the leading historical sites in Israel.
It was awarded World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Walking through the Knights Halls takes you back to the crusaders period and makes you feel the everyday life atmosphere of the knights.

The buildings of the Hospitaller fortress include 3 main buildings: the commander's office with the knight's halls, the St. John's Church south of the commander's office and a hospital south of the church, which has not yet been excavated.
Two and three-storey buildings are built around an inner courtyard, as well as underground rooms, cisterns and a sewage system. So far, the entire complex has been uncovered except for the western wing.
The most impressive part of the whole complex is the Column Hall. Eight pointed arches supported on three massive columns, each three meters in diameter, make up this room, which is ten meters high. It was probably used as the Order's dining room.

Sat-Thu and public holidays 8.30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fri and before public holidays 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m
