Alt-Frohnsdorf came into being around the year 1200 as a colonist's village. The peasants did not receive their land as free property. They were obliged to pay tribute in kind and to work on their landlord's lands. In 1375, Alt-Frohnsdorf was mentioned in the Landbuch of the Mark Brandenburg with 44 hooves. An agricultural good was called a hoof. The hooves corresponded to the basic size needed to support a farming family. In 1428 the town of Treuenbrietzen bought the village, which by then had already fallen into disrepair. The plague was probably raging and claimed many victims. At the same time, the city recommended that the other farmers resettle behind the safe city walls of the city of Treuenbrietzen. The town disappeared entirely. The city erected an outwork at almost the same place as a combing estate with sheep and dairy. The combing estate was given up in 1854. Today a memorial stone commemorates the old village site.

In 1775, King Friedrich II restored the Alt-Frohnsdorf settlement a little away from the old village site. At his instigation, six colonists were settled east of the Nieplitz in three semi-detached houses. In 1801 more houses followed on the other side of the Nieplitz. The settled day laborers mainly worked in the outlying areas of the city. In the course of time further houses were added in Alt-Frohnsdorf. Some of the striking colonist houses have survived to this day. In the 1930s, a new settlement was founded on today's federal highway 102 (Frohnsdorf). The inhabitants were mostly workers from the neighboring ammunition factory.
