This house from the end of the 18th century, in half-timbering and whitewashed bricks
of one level, was completely restored in 2014 - 2015.
This type of traditional half-timbered construction, seat of small
Hesbignon farms, has today become a curiosity and does not
is observed more than occasionally. After restoration, it retained
its entire structure in half-timbering outside and inside.
We found in the roof torchettes, small bundles of straw
which was once used to insulate the roof.
This farmhouse has the typical plan called a block farm
tricellular. We found there side by side and under the same roof the three
functions of a farm: the barn (which was on the right), the stable (on the
center) and the house (on the left). The stable (15 m2) could contain 5 to 6
beasts. The space reserved for the storage of the harvest was more
large (45 m2) and had no floor.
In the back garden, a covered well allowed to supply
easily the family in drinking water.
