Lovran (Italian: Laurana) is a tourist resort on the Opatija Riviera, on the east coast of Istria, 6 km south of Opatija in Croatia. It consists of two areas: the old city area at the end of the sea bay and the newer one, which grew at the foot of the Gorica hill, the 712 masl Učka ridge. It is the center of the municipality of Lovran, which belongs to the Primorje-Gorski County.
Lovran has a pleasant climate. The average January temperature is 5.9 °C, and the average July temperature is 23.5 °C. The average annual number of sunny hours is 2230. It is protected from the cold winter winds by the Učka mountain massif. In the summer, the fresh air coming from the mountain ridges of Učka pleasantly refreshes the overheated atmosphere. The place is surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation, which gives Lovran a touch of the Mediterranean. There are several beaches in and around the town. A coastal promenade - lungomare - has been built from Lovran to Opatija.
