Rafael's information has unfortunately aged poorly. Currently, it can't be called a "highway." The smooth gravel sections are limited to an estimated 10% of the segment. Lots of coarse gravel, sand, and large stones. Still rideable on a gravel bike, though.

Komoot got it right this time, it is an expert ride with high fitness needed, at least with the strong winds we had. The tracking was very rough, rocks and occasional deep sand, but a beautiful ride. To Skoura was a long day.

When leaving Ouarzazte, don‘t opt for the main road but this gravel highway.
You‘ll ride along smooth (sometimes a bit rougher) gravel with a view onto the Atlas Mountains for kilometers. 🏔️
