The Skopje airport was completely rebuilt in 2010 next to the old buildings, which have remained unused and expired, and was then named Skopje Airport Alexander the Great. Since then, the operator of the airport has been the Turkish company TAV. In February 2018, as part of the dispute over the name of Macedonia with Greece, the airport was redesignated and is now called "Skopje International Airport". The Alexander statue, which adorned the main hall of the airport, was removed in a night and fog action.
