At 2,010 feet (613 m), White Maiden is not a Wainwright but it's certainly not a slouch either, standing proud above Dunnerdale. It's a subsidiary of Walna Scar, the highest of Wainwright's Outlying Fells, at 2,035 feet (620 m). White Maiden is the southern termination of the grand Coniston massif, though it's far less visited than the likes of the Old Man, Wetherlam, Swirl How and the rest. Its top is one of the 21 summits on the Cumbrian Traverse, a classic high-level hike or fell run from Broughton Mills to Keswick.
