From the Castle of Desenzano del Garda
The castle that dominates the city, perhaps built on a Roman castrum to defend against the barbarian invasions, was rebuilt in the communal era and strengthened in the 15th century, when it enclosed
120 houses and a church. The walls, crossed by four towers, and the entrance keep with the remains of a drawbridge remain of the imposing building. At the end of the 19th century it was transformed into barracks, in operation until 1943.
The recovery of the walls allows the visit of the patrol walkway and the ascent to the entrance keep, from which one can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Lake Garda. Rooms for exhibitions and conferences have been created in the former official lodgings.
A cumulative entrance ticket allows you to visit the "Rambotti" archaeological civic museum
Wonderful place. Breath-taking view. I will give 5 stars when I visit the museum too. The ticket costs €3 and if you keep it within 1 year, you can visit 1 of the museums listed in the brochure that will give you a discounted price at the entrance. But I strongly recommend you visit the keep because it is worth it and the panoramic view from above is something unique (it surprised me a lot). Recommended 👍👍👍
