1. Need to check on the tide time to enable able you to get across the causeway (and back!). Tide information can be found here oranorthumberland.gov.uk/www2/holyisland/holyisland.asp
2. Don't forget that you will be travelling through salt puddles as you cross - good idea to wash your chain when you can!
3. Lindisfarne castle is well worth a visit for the views and settings. If you like Lutyens as an architect this is a must - he was the architect for the renovation and extension of the castle.

The only road that leads to Holy Island. You can only cross it at low tide. Twice a day the road is flooded and makes Holy Island a "real" island.
