From the 558-meter-high Meisenstein you can enjoy a wonderful view of the landscape, for example of the Inselsberg, but also towards Friedrichroda.
From the perspective of many experts, the Meisenstein is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the region, but also one of the least known. Anyone who takes a trip up the Meisenstein in the days of leaf coloring will be thrilled. Especially at sunrise or sunset. The viewpoint with the Inselsberg about nine kilometers away as a counterpart “awesome”, the area on and around the nearby Wartberg, in the triangle between Seebach, Ruhla and Schwarzhausen, ideal and fantastic as a hiking area.

The Meisenstein is a 40 to 50 m high rock edge made of porphyry, overgrown with oaks and offers a wonderful view over the Thuringian Forest to the Inselsberg. The porphyry hardwood is also popular with mountaineers. At the back there is a comfortable footpath to reach the cozy seating area on the summit. When it rains, the nearby refuge can also be used.
