The landscape of La Robla has been marked for decades by its cement plant and its thermal power station. The first continues to operate at full capacity after a reform in 2004 that made it one of the most modern facilities of this type in Europe. The second was closed in 2020 as part of the closure of all coal-fired power plants in Spain, its two cooling towers being demolished in 2022 and radically changing the environment again, just as they did when they were built.
