    Indeed, the Aven Armand is an underground spectacle! Cave among caves, it records not far from 400 stalagmites which make up a real forest of stones 15 to 30 meters high.

        In the heart of the Méjean limestone plateau, near Meyrueis, in the municipality of Hures-la-Parade, there is the Aven Armand cave, discovered in 1897 by Louis Armand, Martel's first officer. The cave contains a forest of more than 400 stalagmites in its huge underground hall. This remarkable overall picture also includes the outstanding Great Stalagmite, which at 30 meters is the tallest stalagmite in the world known today.
