As an 18-year-old, he participated in the January Uprising. Then he entered the seminary in Lviv. He worked as a priest in this city from 1878 until his death in 1920.

He was the initiator and organizer of aid for the poor and the homeless.

In Lviv, on his initiative, e.g. Folk Kitchen, Institution for the Incurably Sick, St. Jozefata, Baby Jesus institution taking care of illegitimate and unwanted children, as well as their mothers.

He needed only a few years to solve the swollen problem of Lviv beggars by giving them work. He organized a hospital for the poor and sick, and set up a boarding house for the students of the teachers' seminary from the village. (...)
