The Domodossola railway station was opened in 1888 and is on the main line Brig - Milan. It is also the border station between Italy and Switzerland. Shortly after Domodossola, the approx. 20 km long Simplon tunnel begins, which ends in the Swiss town of Brig.
Another railway highlight is located in the basement of the station. This is where the meter-gauge Centovalli Railway to Locarno in Switzerland begins.

The Domodossola train station is the departure and destination point for various excursions to and from the most important towns in upper Piedmont and northern Italy, but also the last stop in Italy along the railway line to Switzerland, which connects the country with Central Europe.

There is a bus station in front of the train station. For example, the Swiss post bus regularly runs from here over the Simplon Pass back to Brig (Valais).
