The path leads through a green forest that seems almost surprising in the middle of the lively, bustling city. As you approach the 277 meters to the top, impressive views of the city open up again and again. From here you can already see the Acropolis, the old stadium and even the port of Piraeus - all framed by the surrounding mountains and the sparkling Saronic Gulf.

Once you reach the top, the small white chapel of Ágios Geórgios awaits you, which fits perfectly into the scenery. But the real highlight is the 360° panoramic view that lays Athens at your feet. It is particularly magical here at sunset, when the city slowly glows in warm colors and the light dances over the ancient sites.

A tip: The walk is worth it, even if it is a bit strenuous. The peace and quiet on the way and the ever-improving view make the climb an unforgettable experience. However, if you want to take it easy, you can also take the funicular. Once at the top, there is a small restaurant, perfect for a break with a view over the endless cityscape.

Lycabettus is less crowded than other sights in Athens, which makes it particularly attractive for soaking up the atmosphere of the city in peace.
