In 1976, the mayor of Sand had a thermal spring drilled and a thermal bath built. A herb and healing garden was created in front of the bath, which was expanded into a spa park in 1989. In 1992, Sand finally received the addition of Bad Emstal. Since 2015, however, the spa park has been managed and maintained by an association. The swimming pool was shut down a year later due to dilapidation and has been empty ever since.

There are several attractions in the Kurpark. At the top end, all the sights are described in detail on large display boards. There is also a dedicated website:

In addition to the spa park lake, which is a little off the beaten track, there are sheep, a large playground, several modern fitness machines, large green areas, flower beds and a large rose garden. There is plenty of seating throughout the Kurpark, especially along the promenade. The Parkhotel is also located next to the Kurpark. Unfortunately, the area with the empty swimming pool and the adjoining herb garden seem rather neglected. Otherwise, the Kurpark is worth a visit and invites you to take a relaxing tour in all seasons.
