This section can be hike as a tour of Rein in one day. Walking time approx. 8 h, approx. 19 km distance. Refreshments in the Kasseler hut.

The Arthur-Hartdegen-Weg is a 1910 created high altitude trail in the rear Reintal below the Hochgall and the Lenksteins, which originally represented a connection between Kasseler Hütte and Barmer Hütte.
Between the Kasseler hut and the source stream and on to the upper Kofler Alm, it runs gently up and down at an altitude of about 2300 m in the area of the scree slopes and glacial crevices of the glaciers formerly lying here. The path crosses about halfway down the rocks of the Riesernock. The place is defused with a wire rope.
The views of the still heavily glaciated north side of the Rieserferner massif are spectacular.
