Holanský rybník is one of 23 ponds making up the system of Holanský rybník, which is located between Stvolinky and Zahrádky, southwest of Česká Lípa. Holanské Rybníky were created gradually from the 16th to the 17th centuries. Most of them are interconnected and fed by Bobří potok.

The Holanské region lies in a picturesque landscape under the volcanic hills of Ronov and Vlhošť. The central ponds of this system are Dolanský and Holanský rybník. All ponds are for fish farming.

Holanský rybník is one of the largest ponds near the village of Holany. It has an area of 25 hectares. Its origins date back to the period between 1437 and 1440, when the Rybnov fortress was built, which is directly protected by the outlet from this pond. Today, the pond is used for breeding and hunting, and only partly for swimming, but its banks are mostly muddy.

Today they are primarily an atmospheric leisure paradise, and hundreds of dachas line their banks. On the north bank you can see the remains of the Hostikovic moated castle. On the western edge of the Hohlener Teich the ruins of Kickelsburg (Milčany) rise on a rocky outcrop.
