Prompted by the Franciscan Father Laurentius Seibert, a peace cross was erected on the Giersberg in 1950. The ascent to the 13.5 m high cross takes place on a way of the cross in a beautiful facility. The figures are made of bluestone, a typical solid rock from the area. Next to the cross is a small chapel as the 13th Station of the Cross. Rest stops available.

In front of this small sacred monument – with the special dedication of the Peace Cross – I would like to offer the viewer a short text by Christiane Völkel, who personally describes the Apostle Paul's letter to the church in Philippi as "one of the beautiful passages that always comes to my heart." Paul writes:
+ "Do not be anxious about anything, but ... with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ." (Philippians 4:6-7) +
She comments as follows: "You have to think through these two sentences word for word! So, they contain everything of 'Good News' (...) And another beautiful aspect that moves me in the second sentence: It says that prayer has an effect. Namely, finding peace within oneself and following one's path through life through communion with Jesus."
