On Saturday (May 20, 2006) in Zambrów, official ceremonies related to the unveiling and blessing of the statue of the Holy Father John Paul II took place. The over 5-metre-high bronze statue stood on a 3-metre-high granite plinth, in the square next to the church of St. Holy Trinity. The decision to build a monument to John Paul II in Zambrów was made by the City Council on August 30, 2005. The monument was designed by the artist - professor of the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts, Czesław Dźwigaj. The construction was financed by the local government and the inhabitants of Zambrów and the Zambrów poviat. On the plinth of the monument there is an inscription: “To the Beloved Holy Father John Paul II; 1920 - 1978 - 2005; Society of the City of Zambrów”.
