Punta del Este is located on a narrow peninsula on Uruguay's southern Atlantic coast. The seaside resort is located about 140 kilometers east of the capital Montevideo. Punta del Este nestles picturesquely on the coast of the Rio de la Plata. The proximity to the city and the fantastic landscape with paradisiacal sandy beaches and turquoise blue sea attracts the rich and beautiful of South America and is therefore considered the Saint-Tropez of Uruguay. The two stretches of coast that surround Punta del Este are Playa Mansa on the inner part of the Rio de la Plata and Playa Brava on the Atlantic Ocean. The coastal landscape is dominated by a spectacular skyline of modern skyscrapers and a marina, which gives way inland to villas and park areas.
