This ornate house belonged to a peasant family who traded or worked within the city but owned land and livestock outside the city walls. You could drive directly through the gate into the house with a horse and cart. The façade tells of prosperity (represented by the overflowing vases on the slanting struts) and of the new faith to which the owners had converted in the course of the Reformation (around 1541/42). The sayings in golden letters come from the Bible and a collection of songs by Martin Luther. May the sun shine on the house and the red rooster on a blue background protect the house from fire - the house still conveys these messages from the 16th century to this day. It was extensively restored in 1979 by the local history association Buxtehude e.V. and thus saved.

Fischerstraße 3
The building dates back to the 16th century, built in 1553 according to the date on the gable. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful half-timbered houses in Buxtehude's old town. The previous owners were mostly carters. Thanks to the initiative of city director Wilhelm Albrecht and the founding of the "Haus Fischerstraße 3" association, the building was thoroughly restored.
