The Madi Valley lies at an average altitude of about 700 m south-east of Tansen and is surrounded by the Mahabharat Range. The valley covers an area of approximately 19 sq.km. and is utilized as agricultural land. It is believed that the Madi Valley was a lake which drained away leaving the fertile land. Tinau Khola is the main river draining from the Madi Valley.
