The Abbey Library of St. Gallen is the abbey library of the former Benedictine Abbey of St. Gallen.

This library originated from the cell founded by the Irish monk St. Gallus around 612 in the high valley of the Steinach River. Founded no later than 719, the Abbey Library of St. Gallen is one of the most important historical libraries in the world. It is the only one of the great monastic libraries of the early Middle Ages whose outstanding holdings have remained relatively intact from the 8th century to the present day. It contains 2,100 manuscripts, 1,650 incunabula (printed works up to 1500) and early printed works (printed between 1501 and 1520), a total of approximately 170,000 books and other media.

In 1983, the library, along with the Abbey District of St. Gallen, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The documents in the Abbey Archives and Library of St. Gallen were declared a UNESCO Memory of the World in 2017.
