The one located in the center of Faenza is considered among the most beautiful squares in Italy: it is Piazza del Popolo which joins the adjacent Piazza della Libertà. Characterized by two harmonious porticoes which are integrated by important upper loggias, it is considered the true living room of Faenza and, precisely in this way, it is experienced by the people of Faenza who flock to it in the late afternoon and three mornings a week when the market is present.

The first thing that appears to the visitor arriving in Piazza del Popolo is the Clock Tower: it is a faithful reconstruction of the original 17th century one blown up by the retreating Germans during the end of the Second World War, to eliminate an important observation point. The construction of the tower that can currently be seen was carried out immediately after the war so as not to deprive the people of Faenza of that symbol that had characterized their city for centuries.
The mighty Palazzo del Podestà is located next to the Clock Tower, right in front of the Town Hall which, originally, was the residence of the Lords of Faenza, the Manfredis.
