On May 1, 1933, the groundbreaking ceremony was carried out. Around 1500 people had gathered at the little oak fountain. Work began on May 2nd, five workers uncovered the source of the little oak fountain on Falkendorfer Strasse, ten workers were busy building the water tank. The water was taken from the small oak fountain on Falkendorfer Strasse, which, according to information at the time, delivered seven to eight liters per second. The water went from the spring to the newly built pumping station at the junction between Herzogenaurach and Welkenbach.
From there, the water was pumped through the city to the elevated tank on Bamberger Strasse. This was built at the highest point, in the direction of Beutelsdorf, at the so-called First Lindla. The capacity was 400 cubic meters. This supply should be sufficient to cover the average daily requirement of 200 cubic meters of water for the city of Herzogenaurach. Today the average water consumption per day is 3523 cubic meters.
